Next year is really coming together! YAY! I am excited about it all and want to sit down and plan out the year already. Last night I wrote out all the subjects and what I would be using or wanting to cover for each one. Being a planner by nature I find this fun
I hope to have my year 2 booklist and schedule done sometime soon and then I will post it. In the meantime, if you are really wanting to use Charlotte Mason methods and are just intimidated by it all, I found this site – http://www.livingbookscurriculum.com/ – it says “Literature-rich curricula inspired by the work of Charlotte Mason”
Enjoy!

This is a great site! Thanks! Looks like you’re not far away from finalizing things! I enjoy reading your posts. Can I get your thoughts on what you used this year (MFW).? What worked and what didn’t about it?
You’re doing a great job, BTW! Your little Buttercup is quite blessed!

Hey Christi -
I used MWF 1st this year. I like that it is gentle, I didn’t like how it reminded me of a sprint — started off great (good activities and plans) and kind of fizzled off half-way through (about half the plans in the last half of the book compared to first half). Also what didn’t work is having a certain day of the week as “exploration day” (science day). As much as I think I would like a spelled out curriculum, I do much better without one.
WE also used the Child’s Story Bible and I LOVE it! Just pick it up and read and then she would narrate for me.
We use Horizons math and she likes it and gets math easily, so if it ain’t broke …
I tried A Reason for Spelling but it was too much – the teacher guide is almost 3x as think as the student book, if that tells you anything … and I just had to have it
. Now we’re using Spelling Time on the computer, but next year we’ll just do the CM way.
We tried First Language Lessons, but the lessons seemed contrived and they are completely paretn led. I’m looking at Queen HOmeschool’s Language LEssons becaus the child can do them him/herself. Or I may not do anything yet there either. Still trying to figure it all out!
Blessings!
